A Portrait of an Artist at Work

This post offers a firsthand look at Laurence Kirwan's portrait of an artist creating art. It compares versions of the composition and reflects on the unusual experience of painting someone in the act of painting.

To paint an Artist at work is like looking at your image reflected in two mirrors facing each other. The image repeats itself to infinity. Here the Artist paints another artist creating. This is the second version of this painting and it may or may not be finished. It is a larger version than the first; 24" x 30" versus 16" x 20."

Here is an early version and the completed version.
