Top: General Service Medal – South-West Asia: This medal is for members who provided direct support to operations in the presence of an armed enemy in South-West Asia

Bottom: This is a ribbon bar for the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, which was awarded for voluntary service during World War II. The medal was established on October 22, 1943, and was granted to persons of any rank in the Naval, Military, or Air Forces of Canada who voluntarily served on active duty between September 3, 1939, and March 1, 1947. The silver maple leaf device on the ribbon indicates that the recipient had served overseas.

The ribbon is red, green, and blue, representing the Army, Merchant Navy, and Air Force, respectively.
