Indian War plates: U.S. Army Model 1881 brass eagle helmet or shako plate, featuring a spread-wing bald eagle with a shield, an "E PLURIBUS UNUM" scroll, and crossed artillery cannons or equipment behind the shield.

Era: Late 19th-century post-Civil War period (Indian Wars to Spanish-American War era, circa 1881–1902).

Design: Stamped brass construction displaying a federal spread eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, backed by branch insignia symbols.

Use: Worn on dress helmets and shako hats by enlisted personnel or cadets before the major uniform redesign of 1902.
