About This Work

Canadian Royal Navy Officer Visor Cap 1969, H.M.S. Rainbow. Photograph

Canadian Forces Maritime Command officer's service cap dating from the unification era around 1968–1969.
Following the unification of the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, and Royal Canadian Air Force into a singular service in February 1968, the traditional navy blue uniforms were replaced with "CF Rifle Green" uniforms. This specific peaked cap features the distinctive hunter green top, a ribbed green mohair band, a black shiny chinstrap, and the post-unification Maritime Command insignia featuring a silver anchor enclosed by a silver wreath, surmounted by the Queen Elizabeth II (St. Edward's) crown.
