US Coast Guard Commander Visor Cap. Photograph

US Coast Guard Commander Visor Cap. Cmdr. C. F. Gailey, USCG, Bancroft manufacturer.

U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Officer Combination Cap, specifically configured for the senior officer ranks of Commander (O-5) or Captain (O-6).

The identifying elements of this cap include:

The Crest Insignia: Features a large gold eagle with spread wings clutching a silver horizontal anchor. This exact design uniquely distinguishes the U.S. Coast Guard official crest from the standard U.S. Navy crest (which uses a vertical shield with dual crossed anchors).

The Visor (Scrambled Eggs): The direct embroidery of gold oak leaves and acorns sweeping across the front edge of the black visor indicates a Senior Officer rank—specifically a Commander or Captain in the Coast Guard and Navy. Flag officers (Admirals) feature a double row of embroidery that covers the entire visor.
